Many moms really want to be able to enjoy being a mom and also contributing to the household income. I was actually a mom in those very shoes. I had always contributed about fifty percent of the household income and didn't want to give that up after giving birth. Yet, looking at my daughters tiny little face, I also knew that being home was the only place for me.
I'd like to share just a few ideas of how you can turn something you enjoy into profit:
1. If you enjoy painting, try putting your paintings up for sale. I've seen some beautiful pieces done by those who paint only part time. I would love to have their pieces on my walls.
2. If you enjoy animals, consider an animal walking service or an animal sitting business. My cousin doggy sits during the day for those who don't want their dogs left home alone. Another woman I know travels from home to home giving dogs baths right in their own home.
3. If you like children, consider opening a day care from your home. My old neighbor ran a home daycare for over 25 years. She ran the daycare while her own kids were young and then when her grandchildren were young.
4. If you're good at proofing other people's work, consider starting a proofing business. I've been fortunate to meet some awesome proofers who have worked for me over the years.
5. If you enjoy planning parties, consider starting a party planning business. You can select to only plan children's parties or you can venture into adult parties, weddings etc. You might consider a small piece of party planning such as a face painting service where you come and paint faces at parties and then leave.
6. If you enjoy can sew, you might think about an in home tailoring business. You can alter clothing, sew new clothing, contract with theater groups to make their costumes and more.
7. If you are crafty, consider making personalized stationery, business cards and note cards. I've seen some beautiful items in shops online.
8. If you enjoy organizing, consider an organizing business. I know two women who organize kitchens, closets and more and they get paid to help you de-clutter.
9. If cameras are your friend, consider a photography business. You can specialize in newborns, weddings or any other niche you enjoy.
10. If you have a way with words, consider freelance writing. You can submit articles to magazines or you can blog for pay. There are many blogging sites looking for those willing to put in the time to research and then write posts for their blogs.
These are ten ideas for the stay at home mom wanting to bring in an income. Make a list of what you like and what you might enjoy spending time doing. Now research how you can turn that into a money making opportunity. There really are no limits on what you can do to earn money. Spend the time researching now and you'll find yourself an entrepreneur in not time at all.
